THE GLORY OF FLESH AND OF THE LORD
What does scripture say about the glory of our flesh? “For all flesh is as grass, and all the GLORY
OF MAN AS THE FLOWER OF GRASS; The grass withereth, and the flower thereof
falleth away” (1Pe 1:24). Brethren
put no confidence in your flesh! Anything
done by us will perish with our flesh. If
we are to have assurance in righteousness, it must be eternal righteousness; if
we have assurance in holiness it must be perfection which lasts forever. But our
flesh is only grass and our glory as a fading flower.
Yet, all that Christ freely
gives us is eternal and everlasting. We
are born-again “by the word of God, WHICH LIVETH AND ABIDETH FOREVER” (1Pe
1:23). Christ said, “I give unto them ETERNAL LIFE; and they shall never
perish” (Jn 10: 28) Christ is the Author of “ETERNAL SALVATION” with “ETERNAL
GLORY” (Heb 5: 9; 2 Ti 2: 10). “By his own blood he entered in once into the
holy place, having obtained ETERNAL REDEMPTION for us” (Heb 9: 12). So “they
which are called receive the promise of ETERNAL INHERITANCE” (Heb 9:15). Our
Savior made with us an “EVERLASTING COVENANT” (Gen 9: 16), robed us in his “EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS”,
gave us his “EVERLASTING KINGDOM”, and established us on his “EVERLASTING
FOUNDATION” (Ps 119: 142; Ps 145: 13; Pro 10: 25) Therefore, “In the LORD
Jehovah is EVERLASTING STRENGTH” (Is 26: 4). Though the glory of our flesh is as the flower
of grass, “the LORD shall be unto thee an EVERLASTING LIGHT, and THY GOD THY
GLORY!” (Is 60: 19).

THREE BLESSED FACTS
“And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water
of life freely” (Rev 21: 6)
Friend, if you or I should ever come before the LORD on that day,
trusting in something that we did or didn’t do as the basis of our acceptance
before Him, He will justly send us to the Lake of Fire. Salvation is not some
collaboration between God and man, but it is entirely of the LORD. This is set
forth very plainly in God’s word by three blessed facts:
1st, Salvation has one Author. “Looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the
cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of
God” (HEB 12:2).
2nd, Salvation has one Workman. “For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which
God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (EPH 2:10).
3rd, Salvation has one Righteousness. “I will go in the strength of the
Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only” (PS
71:16).
Beloved, we know that
believing on Christ, believing His blessed person and His finished
saving work is the power of God, and the wisdom of God,
through the faith of the operation of God. What blessed assurance, not
merely believing in Christ but, beloved, believing on the Lord
Jesus Christ (1 COR 1:18-24).
Friend, irrespective of what
some liar may have told you, your salvation does not depend on you and
what you do with Him. Not in the least! Rather, your salvation depends
entirely upon what He will do with you.

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are
complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Colossians
2:9,10)
In Christ, there is no
further perfection to attain. In Christ, a sinner is made to be everything that
God requires him to be. In Christ, wisdom is complete, righteousness is
complete, sanctification is complete, and redemption is complete. To know Him
is to know it all, and to have Him is to have it all. In Christ, we are as
perfectly complete as we will ever be. Pastor Gabe Stalnaker

Sin is evil, sin is damning, sin is powerful, but thank God, “For sin
shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans
6:14). Pastor John Chapman

WHY AM I THUS?
Genesis 25: 21: And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was
barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22: And the children struggled
together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus?
And she went to enquire of the LORD. 23:
And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner
of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall
be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the
younger.
Believer, have you ever been so disturbed by your sins that you asked
yourself, “Why am I thus?” You believe on Christ, trusting he is All. You put no confidence in your flesh. Yet, beholding
your own sinful heart you see yourself as nothing but sin. You ask, “Why am I thus?” Here is the
answer, “Two manner of people are in you.”
Within every born-again child of God
there is an old man and a new man. They are each like their father: from Adam is
“the old man, [which] is corrupt
according to the deceitful lusts”, from Christ is “the new man, which after God is
created in righteousness and true holiness” (Eph 4: 22, 24). The Lord Jesus said, “That
which is born of the flesh is flesh;
And that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (Jn 3: 6). They are as opposed to one another as was
Jacob and Esau.
Therefore, like as “the
children struggled together within” Rebecca’s womb, our old man and our new
man will always be in constant warfare within us. But by God’s grace with Christ in you “the
elder shall serve the younger.” Christ
is the Strength of our new man who will not allow our old man to prevail over
the new. This is why the apostle Paul
said, “I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with
me. For I delight in the law of God
after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the
law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my
members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this
death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom 7: 21-25).
