GOD IS SOVEREIGN

The scriptures declare that God has the prerogative (right) and power to do as he will in heaven and in earth, using all men good and evil, all things good and evil, all powers, principalities and rulers of the darkness seen or unseen good and evil, in the way which pleases God for the purpose of bringing the gospel to chosen sinners whom he has elected to save from spiritual death unto eternal life through Christ Jesus the Son of God.  (Ps 115:3; 135:6; Is 14:24, 27; 40:12-25; 46:9-11; 55:11; Jer 32:17; Lam 3:37; Dan 4:34-37; Mt 28:18; Rom 9:20-24; Eph 1:11, 22).

TWO REASONS ALL SHALL PASS FROM THIS LIFE

God has appointed a day in which all shall pass from this life into eternity. As it concerns wicked men, God honors his justice so that sinful men will pay the debt they owe (Rom 6:23).  Pertaining to all for whom Christ died, God honors his righteousness giving the Captain of our salvation the reward of his sufferings which was to bring many sons to glory (Heb 2:10).

SING THE NEW SONG!
Isaiah 42:10 - 43:1

The gospel of Christ and him crucified is the song of God’s glory and grace in saving his people from our sin. The Spirit of God teaches this song and makes it new every morning.

The New Song of Electing Grace (Isaiah 42:10-13)

Kedar was the second son of Ishmael (Genesis 25:13).  Ishmael was the son Abraham produced by the work of his own hands with his marriage to his bondmaid, Hagar. What sovereign grace!  God’s grace is not based on anything in us but solely by the sovereign choice of our LORD.  God shall call his elect out from every kindred, tribe, tongue, people and nation from the end of the earth—even if they be among the sons of Kedar (Is 60:7; Rev 5:9).

The New Song of the Successful Savior (Isaiah 42:13-15)

It was never before heard that a king took the form of a servant.  But Christ our King did (Rom 8:3-4). He did not fail!  By his life and death Christ Jesus set judgment in the earth prevailing to fulfill the law in righteousness on our behalf and in putting away the sin of all those given him of the Father (Is 42:4; Heb 9:6; Is 42:21).

The New Song of the Conquering Christ (Isaiah 42:16)

On his white horse, Christ Jesus the King goes forth in righteousness ruling through his princes through the gospel of God’s grace in truth (Is 32:1; 7:14; 9:6; Rev 6:2). He gives this effectual commission, “Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.”    His effectual word stirs up jealousy in his witnesses who declare the gospel as men of war going into battle. Through his gospel, Christ roars like a lion, conquering every obstacle, setting spiritual judgment in the regenerated heart of his elect by the Holy Spirit (Ez 11:19, 36:26; Ps 29:9; Is 42:16; Rev 6:2, 19:15). None shall be lost.  There is coming one eternal day when all shall sing this new song of our victorious Redeemer in glory with him! (Rev 14:3-7). Friends and brethren, give all diligence to learn this song!

“Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.”
1 Peter 5:7

Anxiety, you’ve met your match; worry, you will finally be brought down where you belong; fearful care, you will not be missed; worldly pulling and tugging, I cannot even feel you or sustain you any longer. Child of God, listen to Peter with me, will you? Struggling brother, let us together do as we are exhorted to do here in this wonderful text: cast every single issue that would distract, harm and rob us of our peace as it is in the God-Man. Do not doubt the text; do not question the Redeemer’s abilities and Sovereignty over every circumstance in your life. Thrust, and I mean heave, all those things upon HIM that may cause you to fret and not fully worship Him today, those mind troubles that keep you occupied and deprive you from fellowshipping with me and the rest of the flock here today. I need your warmth. I need your help in things spiritual. I need your wisdom as shared in Christ! So, will you with me…cast our cares upon Him? FOR He cares for us! If this is all I am able to grasp today, then it has been a very good day indeed!      Drew Dietz

We have all heard the phrase.... "Actions speak louder than words." That is another way of saying with James, "Show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works." It is our works, our actions that prove whether or not we believe what we say. Truly, actions speak louder than words! We say to our children that the worship of God is more important than anything else! We teach them that Christ is present during public worship, and emphasize how important public worship is. But what do our actions say when we allow ourselves and our families to miss public worship? We say by our actions that we really do not believe what we say we do. We tell our children that it is really not that important to us. What is so tragic about this is, in all likelihood, it will not be that important to them either. Children usually take the actions of their parents a step farther!                           Todd Nibert
